Our Program

The USC Airway Intervention & Reconstruction Center (USC Air Center) brings together leading experts in otolaryngology, thoracic surgery and interventional pulmonology to treat patients with problems caused by narrowing of the airway passages, known as airway stenosis. This can develop as the result of trauma or injury from intubation, prolonged mechanical ventilation or tracheostomy tube placement, or systemic inflammatory or autoimmune conditions. Sometimes airway stenosis can be congenital or of unknown cause.

Our multidisciplinary program offers comprehensive assessments and treatments for:

  • Bronchial stenosis
  • Laryngeal stenosis
  • Subglottic stenosis
  • Tracheal stenosis
  • Tracheal tumors
  • Tracheoesophageal fistula
  • Tracheomalacia
Assessments and treatments include:

  • Bronchoscopy
  • Cricotracheal resection
  • Endoscopic cryoablation
  • Endoscopic dilation
  • Endoscopic laser treatment
  • Endoscopic stent placement
  • Laryngotracheal reconstruction
  • Slide tracheoplasty
  • Steroid injection
  • Tracheal resection

Doctor Kim is an exceptional doctor he gives full attention to his patients, He's patient, and he takes the time to explain so that you fully understand. Dr Kim was able to diagnose & explain my symptoms without wasting any time. He ordered all the necessary test to finally diagnose me after being seen at another teaching facility for 2 years without diagnosis or resolution for ongoing worsening symptoms. I highly recommend Dr Kim!!!
